Ranch
Hornbeck Ranch is a managed game area under the Texas Parks and Wildlife program. Their biologists and our game management staff collaborate to ensure development of trophy-quality deer and other wildlife. All of this is combined with a strict ranch safety course directed for all ranch activities. The course highlights firearm handling that ensures a secure and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Wild game enthusiasts will be thrilled with 5,000 acres of ranch designated for select game hunting. The habitat is perfect for producing large bucks, wild boar and different species of fowl including duck, quail, dove, turkey and wild birds.
Dove, wood duck and mallard hunters will delight in the wide variety of species that flourish here. The quail area has been sowed with four select native grasses specially chosen to attract and harbor the finest quality birds.
Pasture land is planted in native grasses that covered the East Texas prairies when they were home to the American buffalo. Today, these bunch grasses reach higher than a man’s head and their deep roots extend five feet deep in the soil giving protection from Texas droughts.
Nestled between Huntsville and Crockett in East Texas, this beautiful lodge and 5,000-acre hunting and fishing facility stretches 6.5 miles along the east side of the Trinity River and is conveniently located about 110 miles from downtown Houston.
